Soil Intake Rates For Both Adults And Children

On this page:

  • Overview

Under a previous Interagency Agreement with DOE/PNL, NCEA collected biological and environmental data for 20 families (40 adults and 20 children). These included soil and dust samples, collection of ingestion markers during 4 consecutive days, and activity pattern data related to soil ingestion, including mouthing behavior. The chemical analysis of these data are currently underway. The statistical analysis will follow. These analysis will improve estimates of soil ingestion of both children and adults.
