Wildland Fire, Smoke, and Human Health

Exploring new ways to integrate social and natural science perspectives to reduce risks from wildland fires. Advancing measurement and predictive tools and models to estimate environmental impacts. Investigating opportunities to better understand, manage, and communicate public health risks.

Impact/Purpose

At-risk populations include: Aged adults, Pregnant women and fetuses, Children, People with respiratory disease, People with cardiovascular disease. Populations suspected to be at greater risk: Populations with chronic inflammatory diseases (e.g., diabetes, obesity), women, African-Americans, and populations with lower socio-economic status.
