This presentation covers the mind mapping exercise used to inform the discussion and organization of the EPA hosted Virtual Public Health and Health Care Meeting on August 31- September 2, 2020. This meeting brings together EPA ORD’s public health and health care stakeholders to share examples of how the public health community has worked with health care professionals and/or health care systems experts on environmental health issues of mutual interest, work together to identify current issues of joint interest, and highlight areas for potential future collaboration. Mind mapping is an exercise used to collect and organize information and ideas around a central topic. Each meeting participant submitted their own individual mind map, which was combined into one master mind map which serves as a way to collect topics of concern from participants, find a common language amongst participants, and have participants aware of each other’s concerns when the meeting starts. This presentation will cover why a mind map was used, the process of combining individual mind maps into the master mind map, and the facets of the master mind map.

Impact/Purpose

In order to further EPA/ORD’s research efforts to protect public health and the environment, this presentation describes the mind mapping exercise used to collect information on environmental health topics of concern from our critical public health and health care stakeholders who are participants of the virtual Public Health and Health Care Meeting.
