Extreme Air Pollution Events: A Focus on Wildfire Smoke

Summarizes the health effects associated with wildfire smoke exposure, current limitations and uncertainties in the evidence base, actions that can be taken to reduce or mitigate exposure, the role of the AQI in conveying risks associated with poor air quality such as wildfire smoke, and those populations at increased risk of wildfire-smoke related health effects. The presentation will help inform the Department of State as the develop action plans for their posts worldwide on how to deal with extreme events that lead to poor air quality.
