ASTSWMO Conversation: Indicators of Community Vulnerability to Extreme Events: Considering Sites and Waste Management Facilities

On this page:

  • Overview
ORD will be informally meeting with a few members of the Brownfields Focus Group of ASTSWMO (from DC, WV, LA, and WA) to discuss how their Brownfields programs are considering resilience to extreme weather events (i.e., floods, extreme heat, droughts, wildfires) in Brownfields redevelopment. Three questions have been prepared (as displayed on slides) to help guide the conversation. The meeting will be 30 minutes in length, one on 8/3 and one on 8/4. Two meetings were arranged due to participant availability.

Impact/Purpose

ORD will be informally meeting with a few members of the Brownfields Focus Group of ASTSWMO (from DC, WV, LA, and WA) to discuss how their Brownfields programs are considering resilience to extreme weather events (i.e., floods, extreme heat, droughts, wildfires) in Brownfields redevelopment. ORD hopes to discuss what information and resources are currently used by their state programs for Brownfields resilience-related planning and decisions, and what challenges limit consideration of resilience in Brownfields redevelopment projects.
