Wildfire effects on water quality: Current EPA-Corvallis research

This presentation will make the team aware of recent research EPA CPHEA staff have been conducting related to wildfire and water quality.  The research topics include the literature review in progress, current in review research on long-term trends in water quality and public drinking water systems after wildfire.  In addition, EPA-Corvallis has been conducting periodic grab samples since the 2020 Labor Day fires and tracking nutrients, carbon, metals and sediments.  

Impact/Purpose

Short presentation for the Oregon Governor's Post-Fire Research and Monitoring Group, Wednesday July 28th.  This group meets regularly to discuss common interests related to post-fire research and monitoring across Oregon.  The presentation covers EPA’s research related to water quality and fire, focusing on the work after the Oregon Labor Day 2020 fires.
