community health and Rockford land revitalization

Health Impact Assessment (HIA) provides methods for considering community environmental and public health during brownfields and land revitalization projects. This presentation draws from a number of known concerns in Rockford and applies HIA health pathways to identify potential options to address these issues in the land revitalization context.

Impact/Purpose

This presentation addresses community health issues for Rockford, Illinois and their relation to land revitalization activities. The work relates to known environmental issues for Rockford and presents options for revitalization activities. This approach can help other projects focus their decision making using HIA concepts. This approach is useful for brownfields and land revitalization practitioners, EPA Office of Brownfields and Land Revitalization, and EPA Regions.
