Workshop on "Intro to data management and bioinformatics in R"

I am co-hosting a 3-day workshop on data management, curation, organization, and analysis using R for psychology students at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Dallas, TX. The presentation and hands-on workshop uses fabricated, but realistic data for students to get experience working with intermediate data. There are no EPA data being shared/presented. 

Impact/Purpose

There is a reproducibility crisis in all fields of science, partly due to historical and ongoing deficiencies in methodological reporting, technological limitations on the characterization of exposures, and inconsistent data management and analysis. This workshop aims to teach proper data management, data curation, and data organization that are necessary for replicable science. The workshop also offers a short primer on tools available for data analysis, and a primer on the terminology used by programmers. Finally, the workshop offers hands-on data management and analysis in the R statistical programming language for students to learn and practice proper techniques.
