Adding new sea-level rise projections to SEA Tool

A draft version of the Sea Level Exploration and Assessment Tool (SEATool; https://seatool.epa.gov) was completed in 2021 and completed external peer review. With revised sea-level rise projections from NOAA released in early 2022, an update to the existing web application would leverage that work to provide the most recent and state of the art sea-level rise projections to EPA clients.

Impact/Purpose

The EPA Sea-level-rise Exploration and Assessment (SEA) Tool provides an intuitive interface for sea-level-rise data included in the 2022 NOAA technical report. A series of simple selections made by the user produces maps, graphics and statistics that describe:  the timing of future sea-level-rise impacts at a site; the interaction of sea-level rise, tides and storm surge; the relationship between global and local mean sea-level changes; and the probability of exceeding global mean sea level in 2100 based on a series of Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs) representing alternative plausible trajectories of 21st century development.
