IRIS Summary of Inorganic Arsenic (Cancer, 1995) (Report)
In 1995, EPA’s Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) Program finalized the cancer evaluation of inorganic arsenic. This document outlines in Section II (Carcinogenicity Assessment for Lifetime Exposure) the conclusions that were reached, including the derivation of toxicity value(s). Supporting information and explanations of the methods used are provided in guidance documents located on the EPA website. As of November 2024, this IRIS evaluation only the inhalation, cancer assessment remains current. The 1995 oral, cancer evaluation has been replaced by the EPA assessment posted to IRIS in 2025. Information on the oral, cancer evaluation remains available as a historical reference.
