Crisfield Nature-Based Strategies Research: Final Top 6 Projects

On this page:

  • Downloads
This briefing to the Mayor of Crisfield will describe the top six implementable nature-based projects identified, based on storm attenuation modeling, to likely be able to provide coastal hazard reduction for Crisfield.  Project scope was delineated by estimating project costs around $10 million, for which individual funding sources can be obtained by the City.  Criteria for project selection include prioritization for potential protection for Crisfield, projects that are adaptive, independent, and additive, and qualitative cost-benefit maximization.  This briefing also contains an example of the adaptation pathways approach to coastal community risk mitigation.

Impact/Purpose

This briefing for the Mayor of Crisfield will allow her to learn about and provide feedback on the top nature-based projects identified for Crisfield based on the results of storm attenuation modeling prior to the public community meeting scheduled for September 11, 2025. It is important to share and discuss this information with her as part of co-development of nature-based coastal resilience research with the Crisfield community.
