MTBE: The Current Status Of Health And Environmental Issues

This presentation will provide an update on recent evaluations of the environmental and health issues surrounding the use of MTBE in gasoline in the United States and elsewhere. Several public health bodies around the world have recently evaluated aspects of the health risks of MTBE. In addition, a "Blue Ribbon Panel" of independent experts convened by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has offered recommendations pertaining to the future use of MTBE and other oxygenates in the United States. These and other recent events pertaining to the MTBE and related fuel additives will be summarized.
