Abstract
EPA first released this document in draft form as supporting material for the Preliminary Regulatory Determination on Perchlorate (FR Notice) in October 2008. The document has since been revised. The final report is available in response to comments from independent external peer review. A copy of the PBPK model code is available. In addition, the final peer review report and a summary of external peer review comments and EPA responses are available.This report provides an analysis of perchlorate-mediated inhibition of the sodium-iodide symporter (NIS) in humans using published PBPK models, focusing on the degree of NIS inhibition as a function of lifestage. The models provide information that may be used to address differences in human responses to perchlorate across lifestages.
Impact/Purpose
The report was subjected to external peer review and has been released with an FRN by the Office of Water, accompanying a regulatory determination.Status
Following the external peer review, EPA plans to release a revised final document.Citation
