Water quality, drinking water and local solutions in Oregon

CPHEA’s Jana Compton was invited to present to teachers about non-point source pollution and nitrogen management effects on surface and groundwater quality. She is advising teachers in guiding students to identify what local stakeholders can do to address integrated water management challenges.

Impact/Purpose

Natural Resource Educators Conference, Oregon Envirothon session (Dec. 12): Envirothon is a hands-on, problem-solving education program and competition that teaches high school students about environmental sciences by immersing them in the ecosystems they study. This year, the National Envirothon is focusing on Water Resource Management, and Oregon’s Envirothon competition is using the three state Groundwater Management Areas as test cases for students to learn how water is managed in Oregon. CPHEA’s Jana Compton was invited to present to teachers about non-point source pollution and nitrogen management effects on surface and groundwater quality.
