Watershed Research at EPA
The U.S. EPA Office of Research and Development conducts research on watersheds as part of the Safe and Sustainable Water Resources Research Program. The watersheds research is focused on refining and developing models, methods, and approaches to improve the management of watersheds and water quality for both regulatory and non-regulatory programs. Focus areas within the watersheds research include science to support and extend National Aquatic Resource Surveys, biological condition assessment, water quality modeling and economic analysis, improved aquatic resource mapping, and nutrients goals and management. Research in this topic will provide nationally-and regionally-consistent tools to assess ecological status and trends, set attainable goals, and monitor progress toward these goals.
Impact/Purpose
