Improving the quality of toxicology and environmental health systematic reviews: What journal editors can do
The workshop had three objectives: 1. To develop a common understanding of the challenges that editors of environmental health and toxicology journals may need to address to ensure that published systematic reviews meet an acceptable standard of scientific quality; 2. To articulate a set of strategic editorial interventions (i.e. actions which can be taken by editors to improve publishing outcomes) which should improve the scientific quality of published systematic reviews; 3. If possible, to identify and commit to five or more actions (an “action-plan”) which can be implemented short-term at the editors’ respective journals that would have an immediate impact on the scientific quality of published systematic reviews.
