Salivary antibody responses may serve as a marker of prior, recent or current infection. We collected and tested saliva samples for evidence of potential infection to several potentially waterborne and other common infections among 301 residents of the Choctaw Nation. Results indicated Choctaw Nation Festival attendees tested had higher seropositivity compared to residents of the Midwest United States associated with the following pathogens: Norovirus Cryptosporidium Helicobacter pylori Cytomegalovirus These results indicate residents of Choctaw Nation may be more frequently exposed to these pathogens than Midwest residents
