Benchmark Dose Software version 3.3 (BMDS 3.3)

  • Downloads
EPA uses BMDS to derive risk estimates for chemicals in support of a broad range of environmental regulations and statutes.  Risk estimates created include Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) (https://www.epa.gov/iris) reference doses (RfDs), reference concentrations (RfCs), and Cancer Slope Factors (CSF), which are used along with other scientific information to set standards for human health effects.  Currently, there are well over 5,000 registered users of BMDS across 90 countries.

Impact/Purpose

EPA’s Benchmark Dose Software (BMDS) is a dose-response analysis tool that is used for the development of human health risk assessments within the EPA and by other organizations globally. BMDS 3.3 features significant “under the hood” improvements to the BMDS model code library. These improvements provide better overall performance, consistent results with previous BMDS releases, and better error management support. The updated BMDS 3.3 model code library lays the foundation for future enhancements and additions to the BMDS Model Suite, most notably the capability to run BMDS models in the BMDS-Online application and on multiple operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and Linux.
