EPA's Nutrients and HABs Research Overview for UMRBA Water Quality Task Force

This is a requested presentation from the Upper Mississippi River Basin Water Quality Task force on EPA ORD's nutrients and harmful algal bloom research in the Mississippi River Basin and Region 7. The presentation covers several research projects related to predicting harmful algal blooms and risk of toxic cyanoHABs, as well as current nutrient reduction projects in the basin. A summary of current relevant work and future research directions is also presented. 

Impact/Purpose

This presentation is part of the Upper Mississippi River Basin Water Quality Task force hybrid meeting. This presentation is part of a panel with Office of Water on Cyanotoxins and harmful algal blooms. The presentation covers EPA's National HAB Program and several tools and resources available for States to use. In addition, current ORD nutrients and HABs research is highlighted in addition to research gaps and future research directions.
