Oregon Post-fire Research & Monitoring Collaborative: Connections, Relationships, Shared Knowledge and Learning, for Shared Stewardship of Post-fire Landscapes

On this page:

  • Overview
The Oregon Post-Fire Research and Monitoring Collaborative (state and federal natural resource agencies, tribal organizations, universities, industry) formed in fall 2020, to facilitate shared awareness of post-fire research and monitoring, shared learning, development of resources and networks, and, ultimately, shared stewardship of post-fire landscapes. During 2020-23, the Collaborative successfully delivered three outputs: a dynamic catalog of post-fire research and monitoring activities and information, a post-fire playbook, to promote collaboration, and a symposium where scientists and practitioners could share and connect.  A Joint Science and Leadership Meeting was convened in late 2023, to bring members together in person for the first time to celebrate successes, discuss contemporary priorities, and to kick off the next era of the interagency Collaborative. For 2024-26, building relationships will be prioritized, along with enhanced informational products and events for wide sharing of digestible technical information for real-world applications. The Collaborative welcomes inquiries from new and existing members.

Impact/Purpose

This poster describes the coalition of government, academic, and private partners the Oregon Governor’s Wildfire Monitoring and Research Council. In a spirit of shared stewardship, the Council encompasses individual institutional missions and objectives to promote opportunities for synergistic collaboration and inform post-fire management and regulatory actions.
