The EPA Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) review of the All Ages Lead Model (AALM) version 2.0 and associated documentation consisted of a two-day public meeting in October 17-18, 2019 and teleconferences on April 23 and June 23, 2020. The final review report was transmitted to the Administrator Wheeler on August 3, 2020. SAB’s provided Tier 1 recommendations (necessary revisions) and Tier 2 recommendations (suggestions) to create a new version of the AALM for public release in a timely manner. As discussed below, the only entirely new modeling capability added in response to SAB comments to the AALM is for inhalation exposures. The AALM v3.0 responds to all of SAB's Tier 1 and some of the Tier 2 comments.

Impact/Purpose

The All Ages Lead Model (AALM) predicts lead concentration in body tissues and organs of hypothetical individuals, based on a simulated lifetime of lead exposure. The purpose of the model is to provide risk assessors and researchers with a tool for rapidly evaluating the impact of possible sources of lead in a specific human setting where there is a concern for potential or real human exposure to lead.  This entry is for the AALM version 3.0 User Guide and software.
