Wood Pellet Production in the Southeastern US

Wood pellet production is a rapidly growing industry in the southeastern US, but environmental impacts of this industry are largely unknown. In this presentation, I will describe how a team of EPA researchers approaches research on a complex emerging topic. 

Impact/Purpose

This is a guest lecture given to undergraduate students in the department of Environmental Science and Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In this course, students learn about environmental health topics through case studies presented by guest lecturers. In this lecture, I will introduce students to research methods used to study a complex emerging environmental issue, wood pellet manufacturing.
