Taiwan 2024 - HBA203: Overview of the IRIS Assessment Development Process

The purpose of this training module is to introduce the components of an IRIS assessment and the process used to develop an IRIS assessment based on the current IRIS Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Learning Objectives include:  •  Explain the internal and external steps in the process of developing a new IRIS assessment, including documents required in each step •  Identify and become familiar with the organization of the principal supporting document for IRIS assessments, the Toxicological Review •  Understand the methods for developing the supporting literature database •  Identify the resources available when developing a new IRIS assessment 

Impact/Purpose

This presentation provides an introductory overview of the development and review processes applicable to an IRIS Assessment. It includes a tour of the online resources provided by the IRIS Program, the tools used in developing an assessment, and some of the supporting risk assessment resources offered by the Agency. The IRIS Program benefits from this presentation through providing a better understanding to many stakeholders on how the IRIS Program operates. The public and partner organizations also benefit by having this basic understanding, including Program and Regional Offices, State and Local Agencies, Tribes, and International Agencies and organizations.
