Implementation of Systematic Review in Risk Assessment

On this page:

  • Overview
Systematic review methods provide a structured framework for summarizing available evidence in a comprehensive, objective and transparent manner. They inform evidence-based guidelines in medicine, public policy, and more recently, environmental health. This presentation will provide an overview of the general principles, key steps and current best practices of the systematic review workflow and its application to human health risk assessment. Implementation of software tools which facilitate the efficiency of conducting a systematic review will also be highlighted.

Impact/Purpose

The purpose of this presentation is to provide a high level overview of the systematic review (SR) workflow and its implementation in human health risk assessment within regulatory agencies (e.g., NIH, EPA). This is designed to be both a refresher for current SR practioners and an introduction to new practioners.
