SOT 2025 Poster Abstract for 4-NP NAM QIVIVE case study
There is a great deal of interest in using New Approach Methods (NAMs) for chemical safety decisions, in particular with the adverse outcome pathway (AOP)-based testing strategy. However, use of NAMs in the context of quantitative chemical assessment, other than for prioritization, has so far been very limited. Given the rapidly evolving science in this direction, more case examples will contribute to identifying current gaps, prioritizing research areas, and ultimately building scientific confidence in using NAMs data as a source of evidence in human health risk assessment. In this work, an endocrine active compound, 4-nonylphenol (4-NP), was selected as the first case compound. A systematic evidence map (SEM) is being developed as a first step. Our case study will be one of the first few case examples that will help identify data gaps and prioritize research needs for NAMs towards supporting chemical safety decisions.
