Health Effects of Air Pollution in Your Patients: The Relevance to Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation

This was a presentation on the health effects of air pollution in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation patients.  The presentation described the global mortality burden of exposure to environmental pollution, ambient air pollution, the health effects of particulate matter (PM) exposure, how PM contributes to the development of chronic cardiovascular disease, and who is at risk from exposure to PM.

Impact/Purpose

Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation professionals had an opportunity to educate their patients about the risks of PM exposure and on mitigations strategies to limit their exposure to particulate matter and protect their health.
