San Diego, CA High Resolution Land Cover

A 1-meter resolution land cover dataset developed for integration into the EnviroAtlas webtool, where subsequent derived metrics calculations support localized, community-level research and planning. Land cover dataset will include associated product fact sheets and documented metadata .

Impact/Purpose

Mapped land cover products, generated at 1-meter spatial resolution, facilitate resource assessment and quantification efforts targeted to complex urban landscapes with highly heterogenous distributions of animate and inanimate surface feature objects. Mapping these complex landscapes at coarser spatial scales significantly reduces the utility of data for localized applications in research and planning. High-resolution land cover data fill this need gap by more effectively addressing the spatial complexities and quantitative uncertainties associated with highly fragmented urban matrix landscapes, effectively facilitating their integration to finer spatial scales of cross-discipline research and planning.
