Analytical Tools Interface for Landscape Assessments (ATtILA): Upgrades and Improvements

On this page:

Analytical Tools Interface for Landscape Assessments (ATtILA) is an ORD developed toolbox for Esri’s ArcGIS Pro geospatial software platform that allows users to easily calculate many common landscape metrics. These metrics provide information on landscape proportions and diversity, riparian characteristics, and the built environment. Many of the national-level metrics within the EnviroAtlas interactive mapping application (https://enviroatlas.epa.gov/enviroatlas/interactivemap/) are calculated using ATtILA. The focus of this version of ATtILA was to make it operational in the modern version of ESRI’s ArcGIS software, and to incorporate new tools to calculate many of the high resolution metrics developed for the EnviroAtlas. This ability has been requested frequently by EnviroAtlas users. Responding to these requests, modifications to existing ATtILA tools and the development of new tools now allow users to calculate approximately 40 EnviroAtlas metrics using their own land cover data. *Any reference to specific commercial products, processes, or services by service mark, trademark, manufacturer, or otherwise, does not constitute or imply their endorsement, recommendation or favoring by EPA.

Impact/Purpose

The purpose of this upgrade was to make ATtILA compatible with Arc GIS Pro and to add additional functions.
