Dataset of long-term forest monitoring

This sub-product is the compilation of dendrometer data and meteorological data collected in Oregon's Cascade Mountains and Oregon's Coast Range.

Impact/Purpose

In addition to sequestering atmospheric CO2, forests moderate the effects of extreme events such as drought or heavy rainfall on watersheds by reducing downstream impacts on aquatic ecosystems and human communities from flooding, low flows, and reduced water quality as well as providing numerous other ecosystem services. Air pollution and changing climate are impacting forested watersheds directly and by altering the recovery process from disturbance events such that forests which previously recovered from similar disturbances, are now changing to other types of forest or to non-forested land.
