Supporting Coastal Community Resilience through Natural Infrastructure: Update for Crisfield City Council
The Crisfield City Council invited EPA Office of Research & Development (ORD) to brief them about the current status of the natural infrastructure coastal resilience research co-development efforts. This presentation will explain how the current proposed map of nature-based strategies was developed, and explain what nature-based strategies mean and how EPA ORD is assessing their storm attenuation benefits and co-benefits for recreation, tourism, the seafood industry and the Crisfield community. EPA ORD will describe how we worked together with the community incorporate their values into strategy selection, and discuss the type of modeling conducted to show how Crisfield can be protected by natural infrastructure.
