On this page:

  • Overview
Harmonized language and structured reporting formats. This presentation will cover the use of data standards including controlled vocabularies and standardized templates for reporting data used in mission critical EPA assessments supporting the protection of human and environmental health and the advancement of artificial intelligence. Data standards support the ability to evaluate data quality and reliability, can streamline the data submission process, and ensure consistent and transparent data management practices that streamline data exchange across the Federal government and its partners. Using examples from EPA assessment development workflows, data discovery and documentation practices will be demonstrated including a harmonization and data digitization steps that strengthen data reuse and make data future ready.

Impact/Purpose

This work demonstrates how the EPA uses standardized and templates in assessment development. Standards and templates are critical in evidence synthesis, such as systematic reviews, as they promote rigor, transparency, and reproducibility. Standardized language and reporting formats ensure methodological rigor, enhance consistency, support collaboration, and facilitate peer review.  This work aligns with EPA/s efforts to develop standards to ensure the transparent, reusable, reliable, and unbiased use of scientific methods and data in pursuit of protecting human health and the environment as well as EPA's mission to become the AI capitol of the world.
